a view down the Mall - before it starts The Mall is the right location for getting closer to the procession, cause all parts of it are forced to pass You by. The parade ground at Horse Guards (that part You're usually watching at TV - You have to pay for getting there) is of course better for watching the ceremony itself but not for watching details of the participants. The corner (shown at the second photo) was at last the location where i stood, watching the procession. A small detail i noticed - right at the corner an old man is sitting. Several times i walked down the Mall and some sideways. When i returned i always had a look at this corner for finally getting a part of the group, standing there. The old man i noticed never moved for about 3 hours, i suspect. Might be he was an ex-service man of the Worldwar or other reasons forced him to hold his place like an island in the sea ? We will never know ... Choose the side of the street You'd like to watch from, 1 hour before the ceremony starts, i recommend, cause You are not allowed to cross the street later ! That year the official start of the ceremony was at 11am. Der Paradeplatz an den Horse Guards (der Platz, den Du normalerweise im Fernsehen siehst - Du mußt Eintritt bezahlen) ist natürlich besser, um die Zeremonie selbst, aber nicht, um Details der Teilnehmer zu sehen. Die Ecke (auf dem zweiten Foto zu sehen) war letztendlich der Platz, wo ich stand, während ich der Prozession zusah. Ein kleines Detail, das ich bemerkte - direkt an der Ecke saß ein alter Mann. Ich bin mehrmals die Mall und einige Seitenstraßen entlang gegangen. Jedesmal, wenn ich zurückkam, habe ich nach der Ecke gesehen, um mich letztendlich der Gruppe anzuschließen. Der alte Mann hat sich vermutlich ca. 3 Stunden nicht von der Stelle bewegt. Vielleicht war er ein Veteran des Weltkriegs oder hatte einen anderen Grund, wie ein Fels in der Brandung da zu sitzen ? Wir werden es nie erfahren ... Wähle die Straßenseite, von der Du der Prozession zusehen möchtest, ca. 1 Stunde, bevor die Zeremonie beginnt, empfehle ich Dir, weil Du später die Straßenseite nicht mehr wechseln darfst ! In diesem Jahr startete die Zeremonie um 11.00 Uhr. Tatsächlich aber variiert der Beginn (z. B. aus Sicherheitsgründen).
