The Colour to be trooped that year (1st picture) - and a bit of history in general This ceremony (in former times widely spread in most armies in a similar kind) has a well known background. How the description "Soldier" implies, many members of armies got there "Sold" (often lansquenets - nearly exclusively fighting for money). Usually they fought for many War-Lords and of course they often didn't know much about them. So the "Colour" (means the banner of their army) was "trooped" (means showed to the troops) - to know, whom to follow in the ongoing battle (watch out for the "Colour" - there your commander resides !). Loosing the "Colour" often caused disorientation and was accordingly dangerous. This old tradition survived as a ceremony in GB (very popular to locals and of course tourists ;-)). And if You get a good position at the Mall, You don't have to pay anything, because the troops are passing You by - so let's change our location accordingly ;-) ... Bataillons der Scots Guards	Die Farben, die damals gezeigt wurden (erstes Bild) - und etwas Geschichte (genereller Art) Diese Zeremonie (früher in vielen Armeen in ähnlicher Weise verbreitet) hat einen gut bekannten Hintergrund. Wie die Bezeichnung "Soldat" besagt, bekamen viele Armeeangehörige "Sold" (oft Landsknechte, die fast ausschließlich für Geld kämpften). Gewöhnlich kämpften sie für viele Kriegsherren und wußten natürlich oft nicht viel von diesen. Deshalb wurden ihnen die "Farben" (d.h. die Banner ihrer Armee) vorgeführt (ihnen "gezeigt") - damit sie wußten, wem sie im Kampf folgen sollten (suche die "Farben" - dort befindet sich dein Kommandeur !). Der Verlust der "Farben" verursachte oft Desorientierung und war entsprechend gefährlich. Diese alte Tradition überlebte als Zeremonie in GB (sehr beliebt bei Einheimischen und natürlich Touristen ;-)). Und wenn Du eine gute Position an der Mall ergatterst, brauchst Du nichts zu zahlen, weil die Truppen an Dir vorbei marschieren - deshalb wechseln wir unsere Position entsprechend ;-) ...
